The Global Value Exchange (GVE) is an open source database of outcomes, indicators and valuations that has been established by Social Value International as the premier database for social value and social impact analysis. Sinzer has a formal data partnership with the GVE since December 2014. This month we are updating our database with new outcomes, indicators and valuation that have been uploaded from different sources into the Global Value Exchange. This data is now made available at the Sinzer platform where you can use it to manage and maximize social impact.

An overview of the data sets and their sources is given below:

  • 17 outcomes and indicators from the SDGs

The Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs) are a set of goals and targets, which will provide a framework for UN member states when developing policies, agendas and aid programs. The 17 goals set out to achieve an ambitious plan; to end poverty and combat climate change, inequality and injustice for all people around the globe. Each goal is identified as a separate outcome, including their targets as indicators related to these outcomes.

  • 283 indicators from the IRIS catalog

These indicators have been taken from IRIS - a catalog of generally accepted metrics, which measure social, environment and financial performance of organizations. IRIS indicators are aimed primarily at the impact investing community but will also be useful for organizations, which want to measure the social value they generate. For more information on the IRIS catalog of metrics, click here.

  • 600 indicators from the Progress out of Poverty Index

Over 600 poverty indicators have been uploaded in Sinzer, covering the 55 countries, which are home to 90% of the people surviving on $1.25/day globally. The Progress out of Poverty Index™ (PPI) is a measurement tool providing a statistically sound way of estimating a household’s likelihood of falling below national and international poverty lines. The PPI is an interesting technique of poverty measurement, using sets of 10 simple questions which cover a range of household characteristics such as levels of education, sector of employment, and material possessions. Indicators relating to the total PPI for each country have also been uploaded. For more information on the Progress out of Poverty Index™, click here.

  • 1085 valuations from TEEB

These valuations are abstracted from The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) Valuation Database by the Global Value Exchange are now also available at the Sinzer platform. The TEEB Valuation Database brings together more than 1.300 valuations of ecosystem services from over 300 studies. To download the TEEB Valuation Database and Final Report, click here

  • 55 indicators and 8 outcomes from IFC

These indicators have been abstracted from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Sustainability Framework. The Framework summarizes IFC’s commitment to sustainable development, and provides guidance on how the social and environmental risks of a project can be avoided, mitigated and managed.

Furthermore we have 20 PerformWell indicators available to measure social change, 37 outcomes and 35 indicators from the Journay to EmploymenT (JET) framework (developed by NPC) and new benchmarks from Local Government Inform. These data sets are primarily interesting for UK based clients.
